Double Jeopardy in India...

Double jeopardy is a procedural defense that forbids a defendant from being tried a second time for the same crime (Ref: wikipedia). I just learn this law holds good in India too. Something that seems to conflict with what I learnt in my Civics classes. I thought appeals could be made from District court to Supreme court for the same case. But seems like I have learnt it wrong or I have to learn something new. Sure will investigate a little more into it and as I do so, here I blog.
